President Obama told The New Republic in an interview released over the weekend that he's been skeet shooting at the presidential retreat, Camp David.
But don't expect to see photographic proof. Asked how often the president shot at the clay discs, Press Secretary Jay Carney today referred reporters to Obama's remarks, adding that the president "does go to Camp David with some regularity," but that Carney's not sure how often he's shot skeet.
As for photographs, Carney said they may exist but he's not seen them."When he goes to Camp David, he goes to spend time with his family and friends and relax," Carney said. "Not to produce photographs."
Except when he does. A Google search turns up this image of Obama at Camp David, racing around a swimming pool with a super soaker. And it also turns up evidence of a skeet shooting range at Camp David, with photographs of presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy and George H.W. Bush taking aim.
Obama has been to the Maryland retreat 29 times -- spanning all or part of 72 days -- according to statistics compiled by CBS's Mark Knoller.
