It only took one sentence, one long sentence, but here was House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi's take on House Speaker John Boehner's plan to continue Bush-era tax cuts for everyone but millionaires. Pelosi was speaking at a Capitol Hill news conference.
"I don't know what the speaker's trying to prove," she said, "but if he thinks he's trying to prove that by passing a high end tax cut, and by leaving town that, that looks like some measure of legiusltiave virtuosity and try to put at the president's doorstep, who is a champion for the middle class, who has fought this campaign on the middle income class tax cuts--Republicans would leave town giving high end tax cuts without ever even addressing the other needs that we have, other decisions we need to make again to avoid the clif, to avoid downgrading, to avoid lowering confidence in our markets, to avoid the opportunity for growth that our economy could have."
