President Obama will leave Hawaii tonight to head back to Washington tp negotiate a series of tax increases and spending cuts before an end-of-the-year deadline. He returns Thursday.
Obama left for Hawaii Friday night after speaking briefly about the so-called fiscal cliff. He said he hoped a few days off for the holiday would give lawmakers a chance to cool off and come back ready to compromise.
The First Family -- Michelle Obama and the Obamas' daughters -- will remain in Hawaii until Jan. 6.
