President Obama has invited congressional leaders to the White House Friday to start talks on averting a slide down the fiscal cliff.
But preceding the lawmakers have been a host of various interest groups the White House is hoping will carry its message that any deal must include raising taxes on the wealthy. Meeting today with vice president senior administration officials were members of Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength, a group that supports asking the wealthiest to pay more in taxes.
Vice president Joe Biden was also to meet with mayors from cities across the country.
