U2 frontman Bono was at the White House today, meeting with vice president Joe Biden in his West Wing office and rating a mention at the daily press briefing.
Reporters noted that Bono and Obama's campaign manager, Jim Messina, were spotted entering and exiting the West Wing.
"You've witnessed the formation of a new band," quipped Press Secretary Jay Carney. "Bono and Messina."
Carney added that Bono was at the White House, not to meet with Obama, but to talk international development issues with other members of the White House.
He said he wasn't sure why Messina was at the White House, but added, "He's, of course, always welcome."
Nabbed by reporters as he left the White House, Messina told them his post-election plans included going "to Italy and figure out how to become an expert in red wine for a couple weeks."
