On the morning of the first debate between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney in Denver, Republicans continued to mock Vice President Joe Biden for his apparent gaffe Tuesday when he said that the middle class has “been buried the last four years.”
"Today we need a new direction,'' Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus told reporters. "Joe Biden admits it.''
Biden's remarks came as he accused Romney of proposing a plan that would result in a tax increase for middle-class families. Read the full story.
"These guys run around the country as they have not been in charge the last four years,'' Priebus said.
Democrats accused Republicans of taking Biden’s remarks out of context. "It was a specific reference to the policies that crushed the economy and devastated the middle class and we certainly can't return to this,'' Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt said on FOX News.
Biden debates Republican Paul Ryan next week.
"Leave it to Joe Biden to come up with a nugget of honesty the day before the debate,'' Priebus said.
