Beer enthusiasts seek the recipe for White House brew

The president's admission last week that he travels with a supply of White House-brewed beers has a number of homebrewers seeking the recipe.

They've launched a petition on the administration's "We The People" site, asking for details.

"In keeping with the brewing traditions of the founding fathers, homebrewers across America call on the Obama Administration to release the recipe for the White House home brew so that it may be enjoyed by all," the petition states, quoting Franklin D. Roosevelt as saying, "I think it's time for beer."

Goverment Executive reports that "some members of a homebrew group at user-generated content site Reddit are taking a different approach. One of them posted an email he sent to the White House Office of Public Engagement asking for the recipe, arguing that any White House homebrews must have been 'developed by staff paid for by American taxpayers.' "

And it says that another Reddit user has filed an actual Freedom of Information request for the recipe.
