President Obama's re-election campaign is out with a new ad, video and website that bashes Mitt Romney's tenure at Bain Capital, saying his "pattern was to reap quick profits for himself and his investors at the expense of workers and communities."
The 6-minute video features the story of GST Steel, which was purchased by Bain Capital and subsequently shuttered after more than 100 years. The campaign is also releasing a 2-minute ad featuring the story of GST Steel that will run in select battleground states. On a conference call, reporters noted that Romney had left the company by the time the plant shuttered and questioned whether Romney could still be held responsible.
"Oh yeah, he set this in motion," said deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said.
The Republican National Committee is up with a video of its own, "Empty Promises: Debt and Deficits," to remind viewers that Obama once promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term.
