Pesident Obama today will visit the Rolls-Royce Crosspointe jet engine disc manufacturing facility in Prince George County, Virginia to announce a new proposal for a National Network for Manufacturing Innovation.
The president's budget proposes $1 billion to create the network to encourage manufacturing investment in the U.S. The Virginian Pilot notes he'll be greeted at the airport in Richmond by Virginia Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell, but Republicans charge the visit is politically-motivated and nothing more than a taxpayer-financed campaign stop in a state Obama hopes to win in November.
After a factory tour and remarks, Obama is off to Texas for a pair of campaign fundraisers.
