GOP presidential candidate Texas Gov. Rick Perry managed to get the voting age and Election Day wrong in the same sentence during a New Hampshire appearance Tuesday.
“Those who are going to be over 21 on November 12th, I ask for your support,” Perry said, prompting some laughs from the college crowd at St. Anselm's College, according to the Washington Post.
"Those who won’t be, just work hard. Because you’re... counting on us.” Perry was speaking at a town hall meeting at the Institute of Politics at the college.
The U.S.voting age is 18 and the 2012 elections are scheduled for Nov. 6, 2012 with the first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary coming up on Jan. 10.
