Rep. Allen West's bad hair day

Rep. Allen West's testy email to Rep. Debbie Wasseerman Schultz wasn't the only awkward moment Tuesday involving the freshman Republican tea party favorite.

During the House of Representatives' floor debate Tuesday on the GOP-sponsored "Cut, Cap and  Balance" bill Rep.  Peter Welch, D-Vt., mistakenly referred to West, R-Fla., as "the gentleman from South Carolina." West is one of two black Republicans in the House. The other is Rep. Tim Scott, a tea party-backed freshman from the Palmetto State who sports a bald head.

"I do need to correct my colleague from Vermont," West said on the House floor, according to the congressional record. "I'm not from South Carolina; I'm from Florida, but that's okay. I'm the guy with hair."
