Poll: split verdict on Obama, pluraltiy against health care proposals

Americans are divided over President Barack Obama and his policies as the year ends, according to a new poll by the non-partisan Pew Research Center.


The poll found 49 percent of Americans approve of the way he’s doing his job, down slightly from 51 percent in November.

Among the other findings:

--52 percent have at least a fair amount of confidence he’ll do the right thing on the economy, down from 59 percent in October;

--44 percent have at least a fair amount of confidence in him on health care;

--51 percent support his decision to send more troops to Afghanistan;

--35 percent generally approve of the health care proposals in Congress; 48 percent generally oppose them.
