Senate Republicans ready to battle Democrats on health care
And now a word from Senate Republicans...
Now that the House of Representatives has passed its version of health care change, the measure heads to the Senate, where it faces a bumpy path. Here's what Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., had to say today about the bill:
"The government-run plan that narrowly passed the House Saturday was rejected by one in seven House Democrats and a majority of Americans. It should serve as a stark reminder that Americans don’t want a 2,000-page, trillion-dollar government experiment—they want commonsense reforms.
“Soon, Senate Democrats will propose their own version. We don’t know how big it will be or how expensive, but we do know with certainty that it will mean higher premiums, higher taxes and massive cuts to Medicare to create even more government programs. That’s not reform.”

Nice posts...you idiots. This is the problem. It is this we verse them attitude.
Rather than promote a bill that makes some compromises and takes on the low-lying fruits first and solves inherent problems that both sides agree upon, it's this stupid idea that something has to be passed now that is all encompassing. Nevermind that this will be another government entitlement that will waste money instead of really fixing the problem. Never mind you have Bill Clinton out there pushing to pass any bill possible instead of doing nothing at all (nice reference to "tea-baggers" by the way Bill...I thought that was what you did to Monica). Nevermind that government is getting bigger and creeping into banks, energy, healthcare and now politicizing the Fed.
How about just doing something smart instead of mortgaging our future and settling for mediocrity?
I hope they choke on this bill and this is the downfall of all of these ignorant (and rich) fools in the government. Do something for the public in general instead of the lunatic fringe and your job preservation for a change.

Democrats must not be "hoodwinked and fooled" into an abortion fight that does not really exist! We should be smarter than that... We must keep our "eye" on the Prize -- Goal of healthcare for all Americans and lower premiums for those who are already insured. Democrats have a chance to lead by actually doing something good for Americans -- like health care, which is tied to the deficit and the bankrupting of businesses and families. We must keep our "eye" on the Prize and not be labeled with the title of another "do nothing Congress"!
GOP politicians and operatives continue to dishonestly and deceptively say that they cannot support a public option, they claim that they want to keep costs down for the American people! Really? This they claim all the while knowing that a public option/competition is the only way to really control cost and to bring about true reform thereby putting a definite Halt to the “out of control” medical costs and premiums crippling people and businesses today, making it harder and harder for average Americans and young people to realize and take advantage of the slowly, slipping away American Dream. One could ask themselves, If you happen to lose your job today or tomorrow in these unstable economic times and at a time when we currently do not have healthcare reform for all, who would pay you or your familiy's health care costs, that is, if you are lucky enough to be able to see a doctor without insurance? This American Dream, now being called Socialism by the GOP has slowly been slipping away, and is in the last throes of dying, if we do not forge a new path onwards toward inclusion and cooperation for all. This dream of America will die to be replaced with just another third world country -- only to go by the wayside and into the history books as another failed experiment.

The headline could just as easily - and legitimately - have read:
"Democrats Prepare to Do Battle With the Wholly-Owned Subsidiaries of Corporations and Other Special Interests in the Senate"
