Kansas congressman fights taxpayer-funded abortions, ask what if Obama's mom had had one?

Rep. Todd Tiahrt of Kansas has been waging a battle against taxpayer funding of abortions within the District of Columbia.

Yesterday, he unveiled a new argument.

Speaking on the House floor, Tiahrt wondered what if President Obama’s mom had had the chance for a taxpayer-funded abortion?

“If that financial incentive was in place, is it possible that his mother may have taken advantage of it?” the Republican congressman said.

Tiahrt reasoned, “If you think of it in human terms, there is a financial incentive that will be put in place, paid for by tax dollars, that will encourage women who are single parents, living below the poverty level, to have the opportunity for a free abortion. If you take that scenario and apply it to many of the great minds we have today, who would we have been deprived of? Our president grew up in a similar circumstance.”

Tiahrt, who is running in the Republican Senate primary in Kansas next year, mentioned Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, too, asking “is it possible that we would be denied his great mind?”

Tiart and his minions just had a murder in their State encouraged by this kind of fulmination. He wonders only about black men and not the backalley abortion mills prohibition would create. When he ran for Congress during the Newt years, his idea to fix education was to ban the Education Dept. At least he's dressing better getting his $160K salary. Idiot.

I am not pro-abortion. Although I believe that abortion should not happen, but I ardently believe that a woman's right to her own body prerogatives is still paramount. Rep. Todd Tiahrt of Kansas is a veritable talking a$$whole, with no sense of decency and respect for women, people of color or anybody opposed to his views. While one may argue about their own beliefs in a civil and cordial discourse; that louse, Rep. Todd Tiahrt of Kansas, given his position representing Americans in Kansas, he should not be so rude and disrespectful. It would have been better if he had used his own mother and her pregnancy with him as an example, excluding the "great minds" claim.

His mother had cancer....she never needed an abortion...but again right wing nuts are glad to see a woman die as long as she doesnt have an abortion....like they are the right hand of god....passing judgement in this life

Wha?

Obama's mother was not single, when she had him.
