The Minnesota Supreme Court unanimously declared Democrat Al Franken the winner of the drawn-out U.S. Senate race, defeating Republican incumbent Norm Coleman and potentially giving the Democrats a filibuster-proof 60 votes in the Senate. Here's the latest from the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.
No reaction yet from Coleman. The court ruled that Coleman's dispute of the election had no merit and said Franken should be issued a certificate of election. On Sunday, Gov. Tim Pawlenty said he'd abide by whatever the court ruled.
UPDATE: Coleman conceded. So that's it.

Hey Bob -- He DID!

Now the question remains whether or not Pawlenty will do the right thing for the people of Minnesota AND Senator Franken, and issue the certificate, or if he will act as GOP lapdog and continue to stall for Coleman until the last futile second.

It's about time. As usual, former Sen. Norman Slimey overplayed his hand, getting it slapped down once and for all by the Minnesota Supremes.
The question now is whether the GOP will continue to stomp its little feet by continuing to fund Coleman's protracted but futile appeals simply to keep the Democrats from hitting the magic number of 60 votes before the energy and health care votes come to the floor.
Given the way the Republican Party has acted since the election, my guess is that in this instance, it won't be the party of "no" and try taking it to the US Supreme Court.

It has been a long, belabored nightmare for Minnesota. At last the Minnesota Supreme Court has restored the sunlight to the state and exposed the charade of Coleman and his cronies. Congratulations to Senator Franken.

And a court - which includes three Republicans, IIRC, strikes a blow for democracy.
I hope the right doesn't get too psychotic and do something heinous.

Well, that look too long. Congratulations, Senator Franken.
