Whatever compromises for the veterans bills will probably be rolled into the omnibus legislation at the end of the year. But Senator Tom Coburn (OK) has put a hold on a bill that would give support to caregivers taking care of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans. The caregivers would be paid 'a stipend based on hours and level of care.' [Military Update via Biloxi Sun-Herald]

They are unfairly leaving out the veterans from the previous wars and they should be included. I am 100% P&T due to several injuries from Vietnam and my wife can not work because she has to take care of me and our son. I would be lost without her.

Why the hold? To what does the good Senator object?

Another republican "conservative" shows his true stripes. It would seem that republicans never met a war they didn't love until it became time to care for the casualties of the wars. Trillions for "defense" not one penny for health care. Veterans programs? Just another burden on the corperate taxpayers. That's the republican mantra.
