I am a retired Vietnam and Gulf War Vet and I met a retired Marine in Baton Rouge that offered to get me disability benefits from injuries I suffered after leaving the service. He claims he’s helped several others do this. He said a guy he recently helped was in a car accident years after his military service and now has a 100% Vet disability that he is collecting while many of our wounded soldiers go without assistance even though they are in great need. This guy seems to have a drinking problem and, after a couple of drinks, he gave me the recipe for becoming a disabled Vet. He claims that the way to do it is before you go to your first Veterans interview that you don’t shave or shower for several days and this seems to always do the trick. I declined but still bothered to know that many undeserving Vets are gaming the system and denying really needy Vets their money and assistance. I know of a Vet who had to pay his own way from Louisiana to DC to get his prosthetic leg, because the VA would not pay for it. The Marine making the offer did lose an eye in the Gulf, but then later claimed he had other injuries as well and the VA didn’t even question him or look into it and he said I could do the same thing. I get very emotional thinking of our wounded warriors but I also get mad when I hear guys like this boast of getting benefits that are not deserved. He claims he has several other friends who are now getting the same underserved benefits and this one guy seems to be the one spreading this method. Jim whoever you are if you read this know that I have learned to hate you and all your friends getting benefits through FRAUD. Look out for a retired Marine Jim in Tomball or Houston, TX. All other citizens will be paying for his fraud and his bad health from drinking and smoking too much! I don’t consider him a Vet! He is the enemy! (My two sons are now in the military!)
