Venezuela: Join or else

Critics say that PDVSA has become increasingly politicized under Hugo Chavez. Focusing on ideological purity has hurt what they say should be PDVSA's chief goal: maximizing production and profits for the state.

This article reporting comments by Rafael Ramirez suggests that political ideology trumps all at PDVSA.

Chavez and his henchmen have essentially gutted PDVSA, and repeatedly lied about its financial stability, as well as all the other lies they have built their communist empire on. (Read Veneconomia.com) They have stolen the property and businesses of those who worked all their lives to get a little bit ahead, stifled criticism, ruined their economy (wanna buy some Bolivars?), destroyed any freedom or democracy the Venezuelan people may aspire to, and created a state of misery and dependence on a dictatorial government. Hopefully the Venezuelan people will rise up against this tyrant.
