Talking to U.S. Olympic Committee spokesman Daryl Seibel this morning, the conversation became liveliest when I brought up U.S. media reports that the U.S. team had shipped in all of its own food because of concerns over food safety here.
Seibel wants the world to know that it just isn't the truth. About 400 members of the U.S. team have been eating at the Olympic Village alongside everyone else, and they've enjoyed the food, Seibel says.
Another 600 members of the team and other staff have been eating at a "High-performance center" where committee cook meals with imported and locally bought food.
Just to clear the record.
