Sotomayor explains her heavy use of facts in opinions -- a matter of interest to a small, appellate-decision reading population -- as an outgrowth of her work as a prosecutor and a trial judge. In fact, she says, she is much like David Souter in this regard. So far, Sotomayor has summoned forth on her own behalf Republican nominees Sandra Day O'Connor, Samuel Alito and David Souter.

Democratic Sen. Amy Klobuchar reveals some of her intrafamily dynamics, saying her mother was most impressed by Sen. Dianne Feinstein's performance Tuesday and so she wondered: would Klobuchar do as well?
