The most recent maps suggest that the worst-hit area was Ezbt Abed Rabbo, the northern Gaza Strip neighborhood between Jabaliya and the Israeli border.
Aid is slow in getting into Gaza. Israel is still not letting in any building materials, so aid agencies have set up tents and put up families in rented apartments.
There has been a new surge in negotiations and leaks suggesting that a new Israel-Hamas cease-fire may be looming, and that a prisoner exchange may be on the horizon.
But these things have a way of crumbling in the final stages, so we'll just have to wait and see if the final, most important, details can be worked out.
