The Gaza Strip needs independent, third party observers more than ever.

Accusations are flying hot and heavy from both sides and the world needs to hear from a party not directly involved in the conflict.

Please verify reports of the use/misuse of weapons like white phosphorus, depleted uranium, cluster bombs and DIME weapons.

Please verify whether or not there were weapons caches in civilian structures such as mosques, schools, hospitals, non-military gov't buildings such as the parliament, etc ... that Israel destroyed saying they were legitimate military targets.

Please verify military tactics by both sides to clarify exactly what happened; what was urban warfare, what was intermingling and what was intentional human shielding.

As a US-based news company, you should also verify if US made weapons/equipment were used in the attacks deemed against int'l law. This would be against our domestic laws and there are a lot of American citizens interested.

Amnesty International's researcher has been in Gaza since Saturday with a military weapons expert and others looking into these points and already verifying the use of WP in populated areas, but the more eyes, the better to clarify the picture.

I'm glad you made it in and wait to hear what you have to say - especially about the humanitarian situation on the ground - something somehow forgotten in the middle of this mess.

Good questions, Edie.
It's also interesting to know, with all the coverage on Israel not allowing reporters access to a war zone, that Egypt wasn't any more helpful--and officially they weren't at war.

Now that you are in Gaza, where can we read your reports?

Shelly T.

Nevermind, obviously, I'll look for your stories on McClatchy. Please include a photo gallery of how it looks in the cities.

Why did they start the war.
