It's about time that this nation had leadership that looked at the deep-seated problems that plague the Middle East for what they are instead of siding so heavily and unquestioningly with the supporters of Israel. If the Jewish people, whether in this country or in Israel, truly want peace, then they must make sacrifices toward that goal that goal and work within the International community to acheive that peace.
I am happy that Barack and Michelle Obama have opened their hearts to the Palestinians, as fellow human beings, who deserve to be treated as such instead of mischaracterized as inherently evil, as the militant Jewish right would have them. The "Free Gaza" movement has expressed their hope that an Obama presidency could finally bring the parties to the table to work out their differences in this post from the SS Dignity, bravely sailing past Israeli gunboats to the Gaza shore to deliver doctors and peace activists: "Nam, Nehnu Nastatyeh!" is Arabic for "Yes, We Can!" This has been the second such moving action to defy the Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip: http://www.freegaza.org/index.php?module=latest_news&id=06d8cba02514044243e5261501ed8fe0&offset=
The Arab League has also recenty re-emphasized its offer to work out peace negotiations between Israel and Palestine.
Now, the United States needs to work sincerely toward that same goal of peace, and the vilification of people like Rashid Khalidi and other voices that oppose Israeli apartied, such as Jimmy Carter, must stop, and perhaps then, the standing of the United States of America in the world will begin to rise once again as a beacon of justice and hope for all human beings on this planet.

nicly written! I guess the dream of a Jewish state has become a reality. I would say that the part of the dream that it is only a Jewish state is unconventional and unwise. It is as human beings; we share the world as we always have. The refugees displaced over the 60 years since Isreals occupation need to be addressed. It is the right choice. No human is better then any other. I do believe in a 1 state solution. After all before Isreal was created isn't that how it was for 1000 years anyway? Jews, Christians, Muslims living together.
