Iraqi soccer team is playing in the Asian Cup to defend its title as the champion of 2007 tournament. Today we won the match with UAE team by luck. The Iraqi government owned Iraqiya TV news anchor read the following in the news hour few minutes later: “Iraqi team one by a killer goal by the murderer Younes Mahmoud”
The Iraqi attacker Younis Mahmoud is called by the local media as the Murderer. And they said the killer goal because the goal was a last minute goal. But couldn’t you find other words to describe this?! Not to mention celebratory shooting in the air.
It looks like it became normal to use these words even by the national TV without even thinking that it is a bit strange to use it especially in Iraq.
It should not be considered normal to use these words to describe anyone. Obviously Mahmoud has been deemed this nickname whether he likes it or not; however using those two words in the same sentence should not be tolerated, especially with the current state of Iraq. Very interesting story.
