This is very interesting stuff, thank you so much for posting. We have been asking ourselves for some time what the state of History Education would be in post-invasion Iraq. We would really be interested in getting in touch with Iraqi History Teachers, if possible of course in terms of security. Please feel free to contact me for more details. Perhaps we could publish a more detailed account/analysis of the situation in our website/journal.

"History is written by the victors." (Which explains much about why Americans are so ignorant about world affairs.)

It's a sad thing that the species able to self-reflect, is often so reluctant to do so.

And by neighboring civilizations, does this mean, perhaps, Persian?
