Old people need all kind of care that should be provided to them by their families or their governments. All the religions advise of taking care of old people and treating them kindly.   

Many old people in Iraq live in the street because the severity of life. Some of them were wealthy and due to circumstances lost their wealth and some are abandoned by their beloveds. Anyhow life obliged them to live in streets as vagrants in rich country like Iraq . It is normal to find such cases in many countries but here in Iraq the new regime came raising the slogan of human rights that were violated during former regime. Six years passed after the collapse, and there are only 5 nursing homes in whole Iraq to taking care of these old people - the same number that was found during Saddam's time.

Living on the street maybe not be so uncommon in the world, but can you imagine such persons living in caves or in hovels in the desert where no one can reach out to help or offer food? Two Iraqi old sisters were found living in desert. One of them said to Arab TV "the whole family members died because starvation" she was talking about her two mentally handicap brothers and her mother who died recently.

Another four children live with their paralyzed father in shelter that made from tires in suburbs of Baghdad . The children look for any kind of food in the garbage.

Iraqi channel visited them and gave them refrigerator "we can not use it, we don’t have electricity" their father said.     

Few days latter Iraqi Red Crescent found an old woman living in a cave south of Iraq . The woman lives a very a primitive life, alone. She can not even talk properly because she didn’t mix with people. The brother of this woman was eaten by the wolves that spread in this area. One of satellite channels showed this woman inside her cave, she was in a miserable condition.

Few days latter the only Iraqi government reaction was from Iraqi interior minister who decide to give her the Iraqi nationality document. As if this woman in need for such document maybe to apply for asylum in country that may be give her some care in her last days.
