Article: "Most Iraqis whom I know they think of leaving Iraq nowadays not because the violence but because they can't stand this situation, seeing some corrupted people messing with their beloved Iraq."

If your elected leaders are corrupted, why did you elect them? Are you making a claim against these elected leaders or others?

If others, then they should be subjected to the due process of law.

I know that both of the above is much to ask of Iraq, in its present form. But, I submit, this is the direction that Iraqis must take. The rule of law and leadership by the electoral process. Both are a long from where Iraq is coming. It has very little practical experience with either.

But, neither can one say that the Iraqis are beyond help. The turnout at the elections show clearly that Iraqis want democratic change. Democracy is a process that takes a considerable time to learn. We in America, after 250 years of democracy, were still able to elect G.W. Bush, which just shows how wrong we can employ democratic principles.

Be patient, democracy takes time and practice. If Iraqis are willing to remain in Iraq in its present state, that indicates a steadfast hope for change. That change can only come from the ballot box. And it is only Good Leadership that can assure courageously that Iraq be governed by laws and not by crooks.

The hard part is, with the departure of American troops, Iraqis will not have the Americans to blame for their own failures. Iraq must move beyond its tribal passions into an era of democracy and one-person-one-vote. Therein lies its only salvation.
