Iraq, today, is like a beehive and the bees - sorry I mean the politicians, work night and day to study and put plans to serve Iraq in all fields. I said "study" and "put plans" because I think, as do many Iraqis that there will not be another stage after that.
After the elections all these studies, plans and promises will be put aside and forgetfulness will engulf them. Yes, the Iraqi beehive is not for work but for talk.
Lately, every day I read about new projects and promises for ideal lives. You will say that it is normal in elections time, I say yes, but not from those who have already spent years in decision making positions without making any significant change in our life. I wonder what prevented them from doing their work when they came to office?? And now – what has changed? And why should Iraqis believe them today?
Maliki, one of those who are spending their days and nights moving from one place to another calling for elections, shouts out his advice to the voters: Don't lose your chance at choosing the best - But who are they?… Really I don't know.
Today in Basra he described those who refuse to vote as sinners in their hearts, "Elections are a legitimate (religious) responsibility. The election is a testimony and he who withholds his testimony is a sinner in his heart".
Many Iraqis say we gave our testimony in the past election and regretted it, what guarantees are we given that we will not regret it again?
For those who await tomorrow – tomorrow is near. Today there is no impossible in the language of the speeches that politicians use to convince the voters to choose them.
I hope voters will be smart and avoid voting for those who are already in authority because they have been a big disappointment. And if they do, you and I will see whether the plans and promises they are so generous with only during elections, will materialize tomorrow.

Just heard from contacts in Iraq that Mansour Rabadi is about to be charged again with terrorism by Interior Ministry after they could not prove any charges the first time.
Since the PM of JOrdan is going to visit Iraq to exchange prisoners, Mansour should be freed in the exchange. HOwever if Akabi can have the Ministry charge MAnsour as a terorrist while the Jordan PM is there, then Mansour will continue to be imprisoned - it seems at the whim of Akabi and due to Akabi's influence in the Ministry. Wher eis the USA now - they/we paid for so many projects and made people like Akabi millionaires.

SO BoobyD says that since Saddam was so bad that relieves the current Iraq of any responsibility to fair trials. Maybe if you were in Rabadi's shoes you might have a different point of view.

The images are worth a million words - I would also like to add the image of a sick 62-year-old man imprisoned at the encouragement of his company as a terrorist. The image should show the terror of this man - especially after the mass executions of others alleged to be terrorists in Iraq. It should show this Christian man on knees praying to the just God to help him against his enemies. This man is there at the behest of his company, ALMCO, and especially the CEO, Namir Akabi. This poor victim, Mansour Rabadi, has been held as a terrorist in fear for 4 weeks!!! I wish you could photograph this man to show how far Iraq still has to go.

BobbyD,
How do you know that? Why don't you think about what you're saying?

If the war in Iraq was such a failure, how are we having this discussion? Under Saddam, you would have been dead.
