I read the US government is advocating Iraq join the WTO agreements, which could be a very bad idea for the millions of unemployed Iraqi's without a university education. Countries like the US that import oil want Iraq to join the WTO agreements so Iraq can't place tariffs on the export of oil to members of the WTO. However the selective use of Iraqi import quota's can help sustain local agriculture and industry for example while protecting jobs for poorly educated Iraqi's. That is employment is such a key issue right now in Iraq that I don't see much advantage for Iraq to join the WTO agreements. This is a very important issue that the Iraqi press needs to begin to research and write about.
