John McCain was midway through his stump speech in Defiance, Ohio, Thursday morning and expected to make a big splash by introducing Ohio's own Joe the Plumber, who has become the McCain campaign's poster boy for attacking Barack Obama's economic and tax policies.
There was only one problem: Joe didn't show in Defiance.
"Joe is with us here today," McCain told the audience. "Joe, where are you? Is Joe here with us today? Joe, I thought you were here today. Alright, well you're all Joe the Plumber, so all of you stand up. I thank you...wherever you are, Joe, let's give him a round of applause."
McCain campaign officials later said that Joe, who gained fame by asking Obama a question about his tax plan, was slated to appear with McCain at a campaign event later Thursday. McCain is on a two-day bus tour through Ohio.
Sounds to me like 'ol Joe made a good choice, considering that (according to him) no one from the McCain campaign bothered to confirm it with him. It'll be interesting to see if he shows up this afternoon, since he's already told CNN that he won't.

Maybe Joe got his arm stuck in the pipes while changing out a toilet.
Actually, I think when Joe found out that the McCain Campaign wasn't going to pay him for his appearance fees, he probably caught a bus to Nashville to begin cutting that C&W Album.

JoeW is using our capitalist system to make a few bucks while he can. There's nothing wrong with that.
It's McCain's reliance on the 'joe' character that speaks volumes about the poor campaign McCain is running.

The reason McCain needs Joe the Plumber is because his campaign is in the toilet

Joe was busy inking his contract with Aaron Tippin - seems Joe the Plumber wants to be Joe the Country Singer. So much for that example of a small businessman endangered by Obama's tax policies. Joe the Plumber is really nothing more than Joe the Con Job, Joe the Parasite, Joe the I just wanna bang on my drum all day. . .
