Virginia Democratic Sen. Jim Webb warmed up a crowd for Barack Obama in Roanoke, Va., today, asking in regard to John McCain's pick of a running mate, "Do you really think Sarah Palin is the most qualified person in the Republican-" "Noooooooo," the audience drowned him out.
Then Webb said he was a fan of country music and was reminded of a country song, "I know what I was doing but what was I thinking?" Said Webb, "John McCain's probably singing that song right now."
The correct refrain of the song to which Webb appears to have been referring goes, "I know what I was feeling/but what was I thinking?"
Unclear how far Webb was trying to carry the allusion. The song is about a guy who lustily runs off with a young beauty in "a little white tank top" knowing he will incur the wrath of her daddy and the local police.
Your article is shallow at best.
"I know what I was doing but what was I thinking?" Understanding how this phrase can apply to McCain decision and his current feelings is hardly a stretch. Considering the Polling among Women before Palin vs Today.
I think after your read the responses to your article you may better understand Webbs meaning.

WELL, LET ME PUT IT LIKE THIS, IF OBAMA HAD PICKED SOMEONE LIKE PALIN AS HIS RUNNING MATE, HE'D BE THE BRUNT OF JOKES. MCCAIN'S COICE OF PALIN WAS RIDICULOUS.
IT SHOWS, THAT HE DOESN'T GIVE A HOOT ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO THIS COUNTRY, IN THE EVENT HE BECOMES SERIOUSLY ILL AND HAS TO STEP DOWN. WE WOULD BECOME THE LAUGHING STOCK OF THE WORLD, AND WOULD BE VULNERABLE TO WHO KNOWS WHAT MANNER OF OUTSIDE THREATS AND ATTACKS.

And "Crazy George" no longer works for the Oakland A's.
He's running for President on the Republican ticket. It must be a "Crazy" person to pick a nut for Vice President as a running mate.
