A new ad from two liberal groups questions John McCain's health after bouts with skin cancer, and shows close-ups of surgery scars on his face to dramatically illustrate the point.
"John McCain is 72 years old and had cancer 4 times,’’ the ad says as it shows close up pictures of McCain's face after successful surgery in 2000. "Why won’t McCain release his medical records?’’
It also features two doctors saying McCain could be incapacitated as president.
"Another bout of cancer for John McCain while he’s president of the United States would profoundly affect his ability to lead,’’ says o0ne of them.
The ad is being aired by Democracy for America, a group founded by Howard Dean and now run by his brother, and another called Brave New PAC. The group said it did not discuss the ad with Howard Dean, now the chairman of the Democratic National Committee.
The two groups last week aired another ad quoting a former prisoner of war questioning McCain's temperament.
.
McCain's age is becoming more relevant this election because of his increasingly erratic behavior.
Yes, he's old and scarred. That doesn't make him evil, but I don't want a spacey 72 year old president.

Yeah, but McCain is a mediocre old ,white man with a backward wife, which makes him (like all the other US Presidents) totally qualified for the role he seeks. In fact, according to the way the majority American psyche works, anyone else who deviates from this simple profile would simply not be qualified. Good Luck U.S.!

Let's not forget McCain's biggest liability: A vice presidential nominee who is "singularly unqualified" to be VP, let alone president, should something happen to McCain.
The two of them also are obviously "hip shooters", a dangerous trait in this day of "push button" warfare.

This ad has been pulled. Yet it's articles like this one, and letters like this one, and the web, that propels it forward.
Attacking the ad - and Dean's brother? - is desperate but the only card McCainites can play.
