Joe Lieberman's spent a lot of time lately touting John McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president.
But, he reiterated, don't expect a McCain-Lieberman ticket.
Lieberman ran as the Democrats' vice presidential nominee in 2000.
"I have been there and done that. I already have that T-shirt and (I'm) proud of it," he told reporters during a visit to Japan, according to wire reports.
"I am spending all the time I can outside the Senate to help him (McCain) become our next president. He can find somebody better to be vice president," he said.
Lieberman won re-election in 2006 as an indepedent after losing the Democratic primary to businessman Ned Lamont. The senator caucuses with Democrats, but has been a loyal McCain backer.
