There’s a curious little item I saw this morning on one of the Beijing city magazines geared toward the ex-pat community.
Says that the Beijing Red Cross Blood Center is encouraging foreigners to give blood to ensure an adequate supply before the Summer Olympics.
“Especially needed is RH blood, found in 15 percent of Caucasians but only 0.3 percent of Chinese people.”

In view of recent Earthquakes, there needs to be a special effort by citizens around the world to contribute to a blood drive. Chinese has received much criticism over Tibet -- it would be a powerful message to be a giving Planet of Citizens.

Mr. Johnson, I'm afraid your post makes no sense. Rh merely measures a protein presen in blood to which it is possible to have a nasty reaction. Do you mean that the Chinese authorities want Westerners to donate because Westerners are more likely to be RH-?
My understanding is that that is a specious argument at best, as only 16% of the population commonly defined as Caucasian is Rh-; only among the Basque population of Spain is there a significant number of Rh- potential donors.

Or Rhesus Marque(D) negative, which is found in only 1% of Asians.
