Not everyone was sad because Bush was coming - apparently traffic and security concerns led to the day of his main visit being declared a holiday, which made my cousin and his kids very happy indeed.

The tragedy of your commentary is that it is so enlightening yet it will not be read or referred to by most if any of the US media!
The disgrace of this man and his willingness to prostitute the US in the eyes of the world must continue to be documented and that is why you MUST continue to write the truth.Bravo!

Rain isn't common, but I did see some when I lived in Abu Dhabi in the early 90's.

BTW... even that Miriam Webster pronunciation of Qatar is FAR from accurate... or at least nothing like I ever heard it said by an Arabic speaker. There is neither a 'g' nor a 'k' in Qatar!!

Looking on here from Iran it becomes evident what Americans are after. They do not seek democracy or human rights, they seek their interests, they need to secure their hegemony in this region. By the way if you are interested in hearing something from inside Iran : www.ebtekarm.blogspot.com

Dear Madam,

I read your Middle East Diary it's a nice effort to note, record and then amuse the people regarding the region's matters.

I am living in Pakistan, I like your this effort, is it possible that you would include the articles of social, political, economical and historical background of Pakistan? I am able to send you the articles of the same kind written by me as well as by other renowned writers of Pakistan. As Pakistan has rich culture, history and geopolitical location of the world. Hope the above is clear and your quick response will be appreciated.

regards,

Ahmed.

"WHY is every Western politician and journalist convinced it sounds like "gutter?")."

lol...it's so true. Many non-American expats say "CAT-tar" while N. Americans say "Cutter."

When I lived in Sharjah and Dubai we had a few incidences of rain all day...nothing like what hit the UAE this winter, though.

Yeah, you have to buy a truck soon to get through the flooded roads in Dubai. I've seen Jeeps stuck in the water..

It's also funny how you assiduously avoid linking to that old thread when you want to blather about its contents. Maybe one day you'll figure out how suspicious that looks.

Actually I didn't care the news before, but this one is really good.

As you stated, it's clear that many people were misleading some people, and from the very beginning.
